01 / APPROACH

Search is part of
a bigger journey.

We work across the journey, from a person’s question to a clear action on your website. Business priorities and baseline data guide the plan.

01

Audit and priorities

Review the website, demand and competitors. Separate search obstacles from later improvements. Deliverable: a prioritised backlog with a reason for each task.

02

Intent and architecture

Group queries by user intent and map them to existing or proposed pages. Deliverable: a demand map that avoids competing duplicate pages.

03

Technical foundations

Review crawling, indexing, response codes, canonical URLs and templates. Deliverable: implemented fixes with follow-up checks.

04

Pages and content

Explain products, terms, specifications and real customer questions. Deliverable: useful pages with clear headings and a relevant next action.

05

Links and navigation

Connect categories, services, case studies and guides where it makes sense. Deliverable: paths that help visitors and crawlers discover important information.

06

Reputation and measurement

Review business information, discuss relevant publications and measure enquiries. Deliverable: agreed actions and a clear basis for evaluating change.

02 / YOUR CONTEXT

One approach.
Different challenges.

01

Make a complex service easy to understand.

Separate services and customer needs. Explain the process, terms and reasons to choose your team. For B2B businesses, account for long buying cycles and different decision-makers.

DELIVERABLES

A service and landing-page map, content requirements and enquiry events.

02

Help people find the right product.

Review categories, filters, product variants and duplicate URLs. Plan useful landing pages around demand and improve product information, delivery details and checkout journeys.

DELIVERABLES

Catalogue indexing rules, category templates and product-page requirements.

03

Local information that actually helps.

Consider addresses, service areas, delivery and local competitors. Create location pages where the information has independent value, rather than simply swapping a city name.

DELIVERABLES

A regional structure, branch-page requirements and consistent business details.

04

Plan for search before launch.

Include demand, sections, URLs, templates and mobile usability in the design process. For migrations, map old URLs to new ones, plan redirects and check important pages after release.

DELIVERABLES

SEO requirements for development, a migration map and a launch checklist.

SEO × DESIGN × DEVELOPMENT

Find your page.
Understand the offer.
Choose your business.

A search visit is only the beginning. People need clear terms, useful comparisons, evidence of expertise and a next step. At Big Fish, SEO works alongside design and development.

We turn findings into interface improvements: a clearer catalogue, better product information, intuitive navigation and usable forms. We preserve your brand’s character and check changes on the actual website.

03 / ARCHITECTURE EXAMPLE

Different searches.
One connected website.

A fictional industrial pump manufacturer. Choose a need to explore the appropriate page and its content. This demonstrates the approach; it is not a client case study or a traffic forecast.

04 / WORKING TOGETHER

Plan. Implement.
Review. Move forward.

A neat calendar cannot guarantee results. The order and pace depend on the website, access and approvals.

  1. 01

    Understand

Collect access, baseline data, priority products and markets. Review constraints and agree the initial plan.

  2. 02

    Build the foundations

Fix critical issues and prepare the structure and key-page requirements. Check changes after publication.

  3. 03

    Develop

Expand useful sections and improve content and interfaces. Review specialist material with your subject-matter experts.

  4. 04

    Evaluate and repeat

Compare changes with search and enquiry data. Revisit priorities and plan the next cycle.

05 / TRANSPARENCY

See the work.
Understand the change.

Visibility

Impressions, queries and page groups. Separate branded and non-branded demand, locations and devices.

Visits

Organic visits to relevant pages. Compare like-for-like periods and account for seasonality and demand changes.

Enquiries

Submitted forms, calls and other agreed goals. Check event accuracy and review enquiry quality with your team.

Work delivered

What went live, what needs approval, issues found and next steps. Reporting stays connected to the task plan.

06 / PRICING

Scope around the task.
Budget agreed upfront.

The scope depends on website size, competition, target markets and implementation effort. Before starting, we agree priorities, responsibilities, deliverables and budget. Major redesigns, complex integrations and additional content are estimated against the agreed scope.

07 / IN DETAIL

What goes into
effective SEO.

Technical foundations, content and measurement. The essentials to understand before starting a project.

GUIDE / 01

Indexing: decide what should be found

Start with useful search pages: services, categories, products, locations and guides. Then check accessibility, HTTP status codes, internal links, sitemaps, robots.txt and meta directives.

Blocking crawling and preventing indexing serve different purposes. A crawler that cannot load a page cannot see its noindex directive. We review these rules together. A canonical URL signals a preferred version; it does not replace fixing duplicate-page problems.

DELIVERABLE

A list of important URLs and clear rules for duplicate, filtered and utility pages.

GUIDE / 02

Keyword research: intent before volume

One person is choosing an equipment type, another is comparing models and a third needs maintenance. Those tasks call for different information. We group queries by meaning and check which page can genuinely answer the need.

We do not create a page for every near-identical phrase. First, improve the existing page. Add a new section when it serves a distinct product, need or useful subject.

DELIVERABLE

A map from customer need to query group, page and meaningful action.

GUIDE / 03

Content: specific information people can trust

Specifications, terms, limitations, delivery details and work examples help visitors assess an offer. We gather facts from your team, organise them and agree specialist wording. Sensitive topics require particular care and expert review.

Titles and descriptions reflect the page. Images receive appropriate captions and alternative text. Structured data describes information actually present on the page; it does not guarantee a rich result.

DELIVERABLE

Page requirements and content that supports a well-informed decision.

GUIDE / 04

Performance and UX: what happens after the click

Review main-content loading, responsiveness and layout shifts. Compare lab tests with real-user data where available. Optimise images, fonts, scripts and critical templates.

Also check mobile navigation, readability, filters and forms. Strong technical scores do not promise top rankings, but they help create a usable experience after a visitor arrives.

DELIVERABLE

Specific development tasks and checks of key customer journeys.

GUIDE / 05

Google, Yandex and local demand

Use Google Search Console and Yandex Webmaster, recognising differences between their data and results. Agree target markets, languages and accurate business information. Branch pages need real contact and service details.

International versions should answer the customer properly in their own language. Plan URLs, language relationships and the local offer. Copying a domestic structure does not replace research into a new market.

DELIVERABLE

Separate priorities for each market and search engine.

GUIDE / 06

Redesigns and migrations: preserve what works

Before changes, record valuable pages, links and search data. Map old addresses to new ones, preserve useful content and use permanent redirects where URLs change.

After release, check redirects, canonicals, indexing, internal links and analytics. Do not send every old URL to the homepage: visitors need the closest relevant replacement. Evaluate performance after recrawling, allowing for fluctuations.

DELIVERABLE

A migration map, release checks and monitoring of important sections.

GUIDE / 07

Links and reputation: make publications worthwhile

Consider external mentions in the context of the product and audience: industry publications, partners, expert articles and accurate business listings. Assess relevance and substance, not just link counts.

We do not base a plan on bulk link buying or artificial signals. Placement terms and extra costs are agreed in advance, and sponsored placements must be identified appropriately.

DELIVERABLE

A plan for relevant mentions and consistent business information.

GUIDE / 08

AI search: start with a useful source

New search formats still need accessible pages, clear information and verifiable facts. Develop expert answers, product descriptions and meaningful connections between materials — useful to people as well as search systems.

We do not promise inclusion in AI answers or replace substantive work with supposedly magical markup. Conclusions should use available evidence rather than a single manually entered prompt.

DELIVERABLE

A coherent website with clear subject expertise, traceable facts and current information.

FAQ

Before we start

When should we expect results?

Timing depends on the starting point, competition, implementation volume and recrawling. Technical changes can be checked after release; sustained search-traffic changes need a longer observation period. We discuss a realistic horizon and checkpoints after the audit.

Do you guarantee top rankings?

No. Search engines determine rankings and result layouts. We agree the work, implementation responsibilities, transparent reporting and acceptance checks. Forecasts are scenarios with stated assumptions.

Do you implement the changes?

Yes. Big Fish has design and development capabilities. We agree access and implementation scope before starting. If your own team maintains the site, we coordinate tasks, responsibilities and verification with them.

Can you work with our CMS?

We first review templates, platform capabilities and code access. We work within the existing architecture when it can support the requirements. A migration is only proposed where limitations justify it.

What access will you need?

Usually analytics, webmaster platforms and website administration. Repository, staging and server access are agreed separately for implementation. Share credentials through an agreed secure channel, never through a public contact form.

Who writes and approves content?

We prepare the structure and requirements, then write or improve content within the agreed scope. Your team confirms facts, specifications, terms and specialist accuracy.

Can we start before a redesign?

Yes. Research into demand and existing pages informs the new site and helps preserve useful URLs. Bring SEO into the project before the structure is approved and development begins.

What is in the report?

Implemented work, search performance, agreed conversion events and the next-stage plan. We explain changes and identify data limitations, seasonality and tasks awaiting your input.
